It is a great pleasure to have you visit my website. I am so pleased to provide services in such an exciting field. I am a practicing artist and former co-owner of a ceramic art business called Centered Pottery. While most of my involvement with the business was at the marketing and management end, I assisted with surface design. Design has always been one of my true loves, whether involving jewelry, pottery, afghans, quilts or building and architecture. In addition, I have always been dedicated to the non-profit art sector of society.
Past artistic projects in this area include writing small production skits, plays and even a musical for theater on topics related to social justice and environmental issues. I studied Cultural Anthropology at Sonoma State and went on to enter an eco-dwelling program at Dominican University, formerly at New College of California. While in this B.A program, I studied the art of Natural and Green Building Design, which thrilled me.
My love for building design actually began early in life at about age six. My grandfather, with whom I spent a lot of time, was a concrete finisher. He was also a sculptor in my mind, it just happened that his medium was concrete and his works of art were floors, roads and sidewalks. He developed his trade as a “real art” and took “concrete” very seriously, standing out as one of the best in his field.
He always requested blueprints of the homes he worked on. After use, the prints piled up in the dining room forming mounting piles. The mess did not at all please my grandmother, but I took a great liking to the piles. I rolled each one of them out on the floor and studied the lines and symbols extensively. I chose the details I liked of each home and began to draw my own plans for a future dream home complete with a petting zoo and dance room with a snowball mirrored disco light and DJ stand. My grandfather encouraged this process by teaching me how to scale the models and prints I drew. He also made me privy to what each of the symbols on the prints meant. By seven I was a real pro, but I am a little disappointed my grandfather never told me about an engineer scale. That would have saved me so much time all those years!
Future Plans: Include building an affordable online classroom for artist, where they can go to learn timeless marketing principles as well as the most current up to date marketing strategies while in the comfort of their own home. In addition, I am authoring two ebooks on art marketing, both due to release soon. The first entitled Art, My Life, My Path, My Decision.
Final Note: Whether working on my own art or facilitating the creative paths of other artists, I find that helping others is what gives me the most pride and truest feeling of purpose in life. (A passion I also attribute to my late grandfather who taught me so much about life).
